Socket Weld Fittings

Socket Weld (SW) fittings are defined in the ASME B16.11. As with socket weld, a pipe is inserted into a recessed area of the fitting. Both the pipe and the fitting are square cut, with no need for bevelled end or preparation other than cleaning the outside, which allows easy welding and installation.

Socket weld (the fillet weld) resists around 1/2 the strength of butt welding. So it is mainly used for small pipeline (Small Bore Piping) with diameters NPS 2 or smaller.

Socket weld is easy to install. But it requires approx. 1/16″ of gap at the bottom of the pipe to socket into, to allow thermal expansion. This gap can lead to over stress problem that cracks the fillet weld of the fitting. Socket weld is troublesome in corrosive fluid service due to crevice corrosion. And it is easy to corrode due to the discontinuity of the smooth pipe internals.

Why choose Socket Weld Fittings?

– Construction costs are relatively low.

– The pipe ends do not need to be bevelled. This is because both the pipe and the fitting are square cut. This allows easy welding and installation.

– It reduces the risk of leakage in comparison to threaded fittings.

– The metal used to weld the fitting will not be able to penetrate into the bore of the pipe.

– The fitting itself ensures proper alignment so temporary tack welding is not required.

–They are used in conjunction with ASME Pipe and are available in the same size range.

–They are available in two pressure ratings: Class 3000 & Class 6000.

    SW Coupling:

Coupling (also known as Socket) comes in two types which are Full Coupling and Half Coupling. They are different in the thread and the end-to-end length. From their name, we can know the length of full Coupling is twice of half coupling. People frequently used NPT Half Coupling in hose connection as well.

Sizes:1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
    Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

    SW Union:

Socket Weld Union can be used in many low pressure corrosive piping applications. Socket Weld Union Fittings are used for various industrial applications to connect pipes of different diameters.

Sizes: 1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
    Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

    SW Elbow 45°:

Socket weld Elbow is a forged steel Pipe fitting that is used to provide direction changes in 45° degrees in such a way that it makes easy to weld two end pipe connections. It is also an important and useful part for same or different sizes pipe connection.

Sizes:1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
    Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

    SW Elbow 90°:

Socket weld Elbow is a forged steel Pipe fitting that is used to provide direction changes in 90° degrees in such a way that it makes easy to weld two end pipe connections. It is also an important and useful part for same or different sizes pipe connection.

Sizes: 1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
    Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

    SW Tee:

Socket weld Tee is a forged steel Pipe fitting that is used to provide direction changes in 90° degrees in such a way that it makes easy to weld three end pipe connections. It is also an important and useful part for same or different sizes pipe connection.

Sizes:1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
    Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

    SW Cross:

Socket weld Cross is a forged steel Pipe fitting that is used to provide direction changes in 90° degrees in such a way that it makes easy to weld four end pipe connections. It is also an important and useful part for same or different sizes pipe connection.

Sizes: 1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
    Material: Stainless Steel (Gr. 304, 316, 316L)

    SW End Cap:

Socket weld End Cap is made to secure the closes of diverse sorts of pipes. The most reason to utilize Socket Weld End Cap for your pipe is to waterproof the association of the pipe. It is utilized to closing the ends of pneumatic or pressure-driven tubes or pipes.

Sizes:1/4″ NB to 4”NB (Nominal Bore)
    Pressure Class: 3000 & 6000 Class
